Use of Smart Trace Electrodes
- Place stick-on electrodes on skin that is not irritated, but as close as allows making sure it is not directly on top of red areas.
- Place sticky electrodes so wires go up toward the baby’s head and then put belt on, pulling wires back over the top of the belt. The belt helps prevent patient from pulling electrodes off easily.
- Do not remove the stick-on electrodes if sponge bathing. Do remove them when tub bathing.
- Use sticky electrodes until they fall off and then switch back to black electrodes, alternating stick-on electrodes and black patch electrodes.
- Call when additional supplies are needed, or before you use the last set you have on hand.
- Remember NO LOTIONS, POWDERS, OINTMENTS OR CREAMS on your baby’s mid-section where stick-on or black patch electrodes will be placed!
- Remember to take baby off the monitor for approximately 1 hour a day. Be sure to watch your child closely whenever the monitor is removed.
- Remember to wash the black patch electrodes each time you bathe the baby. This will help reduce false alarms and additional skin irritation.
